Map of AustraliaAdelaide is situated in the southern Central region of Australia. History wise is very modern. The state of South Australia became a state in 1836. For many years it slowed in development mainly farming. Mining in the Northern regions and later Grapes and citrus crops helped boost the economy  and landscape.

After world war 2 migration boosted the state with vast quantities of Europeans and English moving into the state over the next 30 years. So much so the state of South Australia adopted its very own multi national characteristics during this time with a large English, Italian and Greek community. video

 

 

 

Adelaide the capital city has evolved with this influence into a cultural mix that is unique anywhere in Australia.

South Australia is a vast area of land very dry, desert to the North and West, sparse scrub land to the east and some rich fertile land to the south encompassing Adelaide a city of just over 1 million population.the adelaide hills

To relocate to Adelaide in South Australia would be a easy transition for English speaking Greek  Italian or some middle eastern people.

Housing although getting expensive is probable some of the best value in Australia at present, Schools and especially medical establishments are very good.  Adelaide is surrounded to the east by beautiful hills the the west a gulf so beaches and hills are all in a 40 minute drive. The Barossa valley one of Australia's premium wine growing areas just 1 hour from the city. More great wine areas to the south too should never be overlooked. 2 hours  north east and the delightful river land region  with the citrus, grapes and wine making industries that are going ahead. not forgetting the River Murray.

socialising in South AustraliaEmployment in and around Adelaide  can be stifling  Professional, medical etc will find opportunities but building and manufacturing  compared to the eastern cities in Australia are only just moving. Retail sales are steady but the boom usually is just a splutter in Adelaide. Retail will go up and down with the weather or the local football games. Weather well four seasons in one day. People whom move from Adelaide usually state employment opportunities and weather as there main reasons. Summer up to 40 degrees C  and in the space of six hours can come in cool to about 22 degrees C. Winter it can be a typical British misery fine rain and cold .temps 14-17 degrees C. When planning anything in Adelaide you must always consider the weather. Weather is a great topic of conversation in Adelaide as is What do you do for a living or what school did you attend. The British class system seemed to stick with the high migration of British in the last 60 years.  Adelaide has a high level of old second hand prestige vehicles and status of where you live is important it is a different culture to that say in Queensland.

Family wise can be restricted but most activities are available on a limited scale , as a couple without children Adelaide offers a good dining out and social experience. Adelaide city
